Indicative sizes: key points to check
These age/size correspondences are for reference only.
👉 To choose the ideal size:
-
Take your child's precise measurements
- Use recent measurements (pediatrician if possible)
- Take into account the morphology unique to each child
- Anticipate growth if the ceremony takes place in several weeks or months
💡 Tip: if in doubt between two sizes, choose the larger size.
Always check the product sheet
Each model may have its own specific features.
✔️ These indications should always take precedence over this guide.
Adjustment and custom-made
Some Fil de Légende models can be adjusted to your child's morphology.
These are models in the Handmade menu, which can be:
- Adjusted according to the child's measurements
- Customized according to your needs
Anticipating the child's growth
An essential point not to neglect:
- A baby can change size in a few weeks
- Proportions evolve rapidly
A baby between 3 and 6 months gains between 6 and 8 cm in 3 months, or about 2.5 cm per month.
A baby between 6 and 9 months gains about 4 cm in 3 months, similarly between 9 and 12 months, then 6-8 cm between 12 and 18 months. Babies therefore gain a little more than 1 cm per month between 6 and 18 months.
You need to take this into account depending on your ceremony date. The best thing is to measure the baby on the day you plan to order and add the necessary centimeters based on the ceremony date to get an idea of how much they should measure at that time.
Note that between each size, babies only gain 2 cm in chest circumference. For example, if your ceremony is one month later, the baby will not gain more than about 0.6 cm in chest circumference. Babies grow much more in length than in width!
👉 Always take into account:
- The actual date of the ceremony
- The child's probable growth
