Our story - Legendary thread

 

"Fil de légende was born from a passion. A passion that took hold of me when I was barely six years old. My mother had bought me an antique doll. She was a very beautiful doll, but I thought she was poorly dressed. So, I set about finding her a pretty dress, a princess dress like the ones I saw in the ballets at the Paris Opéra, where my mother sometimes took me. A dress like those that made me dream in films like Peau d'âne or Jean Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast.

In my grandmother's attic, there was an old trunk filled with lace and fabrics. This trunk had belonged to my great-grandmother, a seamstress at Worth, the founder of Haute Couture in the 19th century. In it, I found a powdered pink silk inlaid with trimmings and antique lace. I used it to make my first doll dress. My passion was born.

For nearly ten years, I made dozens of miniature costumes. It was my secret garden, my passion. I loved to cut, pin, create. No need to buy me candy to make me happy; nothing beat a trip to a haberdashery or a fabric store! And then, as a teenager, I suddenly felt too old to keep making doll clothes and I stopped everything.

It was only many years later that I reconnected with my childhood passion. I had just left my job as a Merchandising consultant to follow my husband to England, having just had a baby girl. Quite by chance, I came across classes for making theater costumes. I enrolled. My passion returned. After two years spent making costumes, I trained at the London College of Fashion and the Kensington and Chelsea College in London and learned pattern making for children's clothes from an English wedding dress designer.

Back in France, I created Fil de Légende, initially specializing in high-end costumes and then in ceremonial wear for children, mainly for weddings and baptisms. I still love using beautiful fabrics and lace, trims and ribbons that for me echo that very first day when, as a little girl, I discovered the beauty of materials at the bottom of an old trunk. I hope to make you dream and create for you children's clothes that will mark the important ceremonies of your life."
