Who we are - Fil de Legende

“Fil de légende was born from a passion. A passion that took hold of me when I was barely six years old. My mother had bought me an old doll. It was a very beautiful doll but I found it badly dressed. I then set out to make her a pretty dress, a princess dress like the ones I saw in the ballets of the Paris Opera where my mother took me sometimes. A dress like the ones that made me dream in films such as Peau d'âne or Beauty and the Beast by Jean Cocteau.


In the attic of my grandmother's house, there was an old trunk filled with lace and fabrics. This trunk had belonged to my great-grandmother, a little hand at Worth, founder of Haute Couture in the 19th century. I found a powder pink silk inlaid with braid and old lace. I used it to make my first doll dress. My passion was born.

For almost ten years I made dozens of miniature costumes. It was my secret garden, my passion. I loved cutting, pinning, creating. No need to buy myself candy to please myself, nothing beats a trip to a haberdashery or a fabric store! And then as a teenager I suddenly felt too big to continue making doll clothes and I stopped everything. After a HEC preparatory class and a top business school, I later worked in a merchandising consulting firm.

It was many years later that I reconnected with my childhood passion. I had just left my job to follow my husband to England when I had just had a little girl. Quite by chance, I came across a course in making theatre costumes. I signed up. My passion returned. After two years of making costumes, I trained at the London College of Fashion and Kensington and Chelsea College in London and learned children's pattern making from an English wedding dress designer.

Back in France, in 2012 I created the company Fil de Légende, initially specializing in high-end costumes and then in ceremonial clothing for children, mainly for weddings and baptisms. I still love using pretty fabrics and beautiful lace, braids and ribbons in my creations, which for me echo that very first day when, as a child, I discovered the beauty of materials at the bottom of an old trunk. I hope to be able to offer you clothes that will mark the important ceremonies of your life.
