A few months before the planned date, contact the parish of the town or neighborhood where you live.
Attend preparatory meetings with other parents where everyone will reflect on the meaning of the request for baptism and the commitment it entails to provide a religious education for their child.
Meet the priest who will celebrate the baptism as well as the other families whose child will be baptized on the same day and at the same time as yours. It is with them that you will choose the texts, songs and prayer intentions to then create a booklet that will be given to the family and friends of each family present that day.
Choose a godfather and godmother who will represent the church in welcoming the child. If the godfather or godmother cannot attend the ceremony, they can be represented by giving a power of attorney to another person.
It is customary to make a donation to the Church, which helps to support the priests and cover various expenses. The amount is at your discretion.
